Native Nations Cannabis opened its doors in Flandreau on July 1, 2021, as the first cannabis operation in South Dakota. We sit on the sovereign land of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, and the Tribe owns and operates every step, from the grow room to the counter.
Medical cannabis patients come to us from across Moody, Minnehaha, Brookings and Lake counties. Below you’ll find the towns we serve, how long the drive takes from each one, and how to reach our team before you head out.
Native Nations Cannabis belongs to the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. A portion of our proceeds goes back into education, healthcare and other community initiatives.
We’re a fully vertically integrated operation. Most of the flower, pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates and edibles on our shelves carry the Native Nations Cannabis name.
We welcomed our first patients a full year before any state-licensed facility opened, and we’ve been serving the region ever since.
We’re open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 8pm and Sunday from 10am to 6pm, so a weekend trip works as well as a weekday one.
Build your order on our online menu, then pick it up and pay at the counter when you arrive. We accept cash and debit.
The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is made up mostly of descendants of the Mdewakantonwan, part of the Isanti division of the Great Sioux Nation. Tribal members call themselves Dakota, a word that means friend or ally.
The reservation covers about 2,500 acres along and near the Big Sioux River in Moody County, in the gently rolling country known as the Prairie Coteau. Because the Tribe is sovereign, it was able to open Native Nations Cannabis under its own regulatory authority, a year before South Dakota licensed its first facility.
That history shapes how we work today. Native Nations is a mission-driven brand, and the business exists to support Indigenous communities, empower Native entrepreneurs and help revitalize Indigenous culture.
